Pink Hats and Whimsical Gafi Curls

I don't know how hair does the things Agafia's does. Most days it is insanely curly, and some days it is straighter. I bought her this pink hat as shown at bottom left, 4 days ago, and she hasn't taken it off since. If I manage to remove it while she is sleeping, she wakes me first thing in the morning wondering where it is and demanding she wear it.

Kyzyl said something really cute to me today. He has a red stuffed puppy who he calls "Blue's Clues"(after the character), and he brought it to me today and said,"Mom this is Blue. He is my best friend!.... I call him Blue because he's red!"
That made sense to him!!

Mushing on a "Chris Richey Special"

We used to have a friend in town named Chris Richey who came by our cabin one winter day a couple years ago to show off his homemade sled that he designed and built. It was made out of a plastic sled, willow branches and Duct tape- quite a laughable sight. This is the first year Ben or I have spent in AK without a dog sled, and so Ben decided to slap something together last night (a step up from Chris', I must say, but that's not saying much), and today we went mushing with our dogs Jessie and Shadow on what we call the "C. R. special". I'll post a pic. soon. The sled works well for only 2 dogs pulling, and there is a little seat for Kyzyl in the center. Agafia didn't want to ride, but Kyzyl had fun giving orders to the leader. It was 8 degrees today- not bad! 1/27/07

jumping in the snow

We saw a freakish 30-40 degree day this Dec. But it didn't last long! Snow won't keep these two off the trampoline on a warmish winter day!

Robot

Thanks mom for sending the craft stuff (wiggly eyes, sequines, etc.) . We used some of the things to decorate the robot the kids helped build. Check out Kyzyl's face... I think he is pretending the robot is "Powing" a bad guy.

Gafi with a cold on Xmas

Agafia started coming down with a cold on Xmas day, now a week later, she is almost well, but Kyzyl and I both have it now. I have the constant feeling of needing to sneeze- it sucks!
The kids and I made gingerbread houses from a kit over the holidays. I had never made one before, it was fun! (although I think that is where Gafi picked up this cold)

Adam and Laurie's 2006

I witnessed Houston's largest pizza (left), when Adam and friends ordered this during game night. And to the right, a cardinal nested in Adam's tree just outside his front door. Pic. is taken from front window next to his door when Daddy bird comes to feed babies. Spring/summer o6

Rural Alaskan Water Resources

Ben has recently been working on and researching how to start a non-profit organization and writing a grant to support Rural Alaskan Water Resources. Surveys are currently being done, and we will update the site with new info. when the time comes. You can link to it below to see what it is all about. Any advice or ideas are welcomed...
